In my opinion best under cabinet lights are LED. There are a lot reasons for that and even if the initial cost could seem high, the average lower electricity bill and the long durability will certainly make them worthy of that. Thankfully, the LED cost is coming down a little bit day after day and in the same moment the quality is going up. There are always more traditional options to choose from, like xenon lights, that are a little bit cheaper and maybe a little bit more brighter, for example. The xenon lights also do last long, but, none of the less, LED lights do last even longer. Regarding the fluorescent lights, I have to say that they tend to have an inferior quality of light, but they are efficient and can be bought on accessible prices.

Negatives
As I have already mentioned, in my opinion, best under cabinet lights are LED.
The only issue could be the price, but I have to say they are worthy the price and they do present a long term investment. You could choose more traditional lighting like xenon lights that cost a bit less and are a bit more brighter. I have found that the fluorescent lights tend to have an inferior quality of light, but they are efficient and can be bought on accessible price. If you choose a halogen light be careful because they produce significant amounts of heat under and on top of the bottom shelf of a cabinet that may affect a heat sensitive product.
